Door Lock Installation in Northwest Indiana

Whether you are adding a deadbolt to a door that never had one, upgrading to a smart lock for keyless access, or replacing builder-grade hardware on a new home, Keys4U installs locks correctly so they operate smoothly from day one. We serve homeowners and businesses throughout Lake, Porter, and LaPorte counties, including Valparaiso, Portage, Michigan City, and Gary.

What we handle

  • Deadbolt installation: Install a single or double-cylinder deadbolt on an exterior door, including boring if no deadbolt prep exists.
  • Handleset installation: Replace a knob-and-deadbolt combination with a full handleset for a cleaner look and better security.
  • Smart lock installation and pairing: Mount a keypad, fingerprint, or app-connected deadbolt and configure access codes or app accounts.
  • Sliding door locks: Install secondary locks or security bars on patio and sliding glass doors.
  • Interior door locks: Install privacy locks for bedrooms and bathrooms or keyed locks for home offices and storage rooms.
  • Strike plate reinforcement: Install a longer, anchor-screw strike plate to resist kick-in attempts alongside a new deadbolt.

What affects installation time and cost

A straightforward deadbolt swap on an existing prep takes under an hour. Drilling a new bore in a solid-wood or metal door adds time. Smart locks with app connectivity add setup and pairing steps. Doors that are slightly out of square sometimes need a strike plate adjustment before the new lock aligns properly. We identify any complications during the initial door assessment and include any additional work in the upfront quote.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a Grade 1, Grade 2, and Grade 3 lock? +

These are ANSI/BHMA security ratings. Grade 1 is the highest, rated for commercial use and offering the greatest resistance to forced entry. Grade 2 is standard residential quality. Grade 3 is entry-level. For exterior doors, Grade 1 or Grade 2 is recommended.

Do I need to buy the lock hardware before you arrive? +

No. We carry a selection of common deadbolts, handlesets, and smart locks in the van. If you have a specific brand or finish in mind, let us know when you call so we can confirm availability or bring the right hardware.

Can a smart lock be installed on a door that currently only has a knob and no deadbolt? +

Yes, but it requires drilling a deadbolt bore. We assess the door thickness and construction on arrival and let you know if any prep work is needed before installation begins.
